A leading financial institution requires a bright, graduate calibre administrator to provide practical, administrative and general support services to a visually impaired member of staff for 28 hours a week. Flexibility is required.

Key responsibilities

  • Making documents accessible to member of staff. This will involve formatting documents from PDF to Word and Excel for compatibility with screen reading software.
  • Proof reading documents drafted by member of staff and formatting into professional format.

  • Providing detailed descriptions of graphs and diagrams to member of staff.

  • Providing admin support where accessibility software is less effective e.g. Outlook Calendar management, and other local software platforms.

  • Taking notes to support the member of staff in meetings.

  • Reading documents to member of staff, ensuring material of any nature is read accurately, clearly and at a steady pace.

  • Assisting at meetings and networking events by providing a cue for who is talking and reading name badges, etc.

  • Guiding member of staff around the office and to off-site meetings and training courses providing general orientation around unfamiliar venues including locating toilets, catering facilities etc.

Skills and experience

  • Strong Microsoft Office formatting skills; full MS package.
  • Graduate calibre, background in Finance would be ideal but not essential.
  • A quick learner with ideally a baseline understanding of financial markets.
  • To be able to patiently and sensitively engage with staff member in order to support him in his role effectively.
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills - written/ verbal and descriptive, with an ability to interpret information communicated.
  • Initiative to work independently as and when required.
  • A proactive attitude, with a willingness to adapt ways of working as required to best support member of staff and their disability.
  • To have initiative and to be able to engage appropriately with challenging work.
  • Flexibility to travel between office and external meetings when required.
