A global company specialising in property and casualty insurance, based in the City of London is looking for a Claims Assistant to join their team. This role will offer scope for progression for the successful candidate.

Salary £25-£30K
Location : City of London
Initially a fixed term contract of 12 months leading to perm

The Claims Assistant duties:
Obtain information from insured or designated persons, settling claims, processing new insurance policies, modification to existing policies and claims forms.

  • Inputting claim payments, reserves and new claims on to the system
  • Maintain settled claims and an inventory of claims requiring detailed analysis.
  • Verify and analyse data used in settling claims to ensure that claims are valid and settlements are made according to company practices and procedures.
  • Examine claims investigated by insurance adjusters further investigating questionable claims to determine whether to authorise payments.
  • Report overpayments, underpayments and other irregularities.
  • Effectively communicate with reinsurance brokers to obtain information necessary for processing claims.
  • Review work of claims adjusters
  • Prepare claims reports for submission to directors.
  • Review, evaluate and settle claims applying technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to resolve cases and to contribute to a reduced loss ratio.
  • Adjust, update and process existing policies and claims to reflect any changes in beneficiary, amount of coverage or type of insurance.

Person Specification:

  • 2-3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
