A leading private healthcare company requires an experienced administrator with strong Excel and Access skills to work in one of their prestigious hospitals for 2 months with possibility of extension.

You will provide administrative services to patients, consultants and third parties to facilitate the overall care and financial aspects of the service within the hospital.

This includes contact with patients and consultants, both face to face and on the phone as well as managing and monitoring back office functions, checking reports and ensuring that information received is complete and correct. Patient Administration officers may be required to work in the Reservations, Admissions and Registration teams and are required to be flexible to meet the needs of the department

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up to date information on the hospital database
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on price agreements and billing methods
  • To be responsible for the accurate billing of patient accounts, against pricing matrix
  • To review all accounts for completeness of charges and consistency with the treatment provided
  • To resolve queries, Identify potential non-payments and correct any billing/invoice errors or discrepancies
  • To liaise with hospital and corporate departments to ensure bills accurately reflect the treatment provided and are in line with contractual agreements
  • To undertake banking reconciliation duties in line with our banking directive, and money laundering policies.
  • To provide efficient payment collection/refund service in line with Hospital/Department processes
  • To maintain daily/weekly reports review
  • Answer telephone and written enquires

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role - ideally within private healthcare
  • A-Levels (or equivalent)
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Numerate
  • Computer literate with strong proficiency in MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Tact and diplomacy
  • Strong team player
  • Flexible and conscientious
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
