Summary of Duties:
This position provides administrative support to the Office of Human Resources at the Department of Corrections. The role demands strong communication and organizational skills to handle daily HR operations and interface with staff, union officials, external agencies, and the public.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain data entry in HR Access system
  • Screen and verify documents for accuracy and follow up accordingly
  • Organize, store, and retrieve both paper and electronic files
  • Maintain and update personnel filing systems
  • Prepare correspondence and documents for signature
  • Handle copying, scanning, and distribution of documents via email, interoffice, and US mail
  • Deliver documents to other offices within walking distance
  • Manage and maintain the HR calendar
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and assist walk-in visitors
  • Support the team with general administrative and office support functions

Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in secretarial or administrative/office support roles
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access
  • Familiarity with modern office equipment (copiers, scanners, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills required
