- Knowledge Services to provide a Finance-Grants Project Specialist to support the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Finance and Operations team.
- The Finance/Grants Project Specialist, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Health for Budget and Finance, provides guidance and support in the development, implementation, and daily management of grant funding.
- This position will also support the Procurement team by reviewing and entering procurement/spending requests, as well as assisting with various daily administrative tasks as needed.
• Manage accounting functions related to grants, including tracking expenditures, reconciling accounts, and preparing journal entries.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, funding agency requirements, and internal financial policies.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal stakeholders, funding agencies, and auditors.
• Monitor grant budgets and spending to ensure funds are used appropriately and within approved timelines.
• Analyzes financial information and makes recommendations regarding expenditures, plans, activities and operations that may impact budget status.
• Collaborate with program and grants teams to support budget development,
modifications, and closeouts.
• Maintain organized and auditable grant records and documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of audit materials and serve as a point of contact during grant audits.
• Support ongoing process improvements to enhance financial tracking, transparency, and accountability.
• Collaborates with other areas of Finance to ensure alignment of activities and
coordinated workflows.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Experience in grant accounting or financial management, with a focus on federal grants.
• Budget management experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal grant regulations.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and integrity. Education and Experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience in Workday.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
