Duration: 36 Months of Contract
Job Location: Rhode Island 02908
Hours: 35 Hours a week job.
Shift: M-F 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Type: Onsite Position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the reporting requirements set-forth by the project’s grant manager.
- Support the Project Manager of the “Closure Project” with data collection and reporting as needed for USDOJ grant reporting purposes.
- Promptly complete all required reports as needed, following the proper procedures and policies associated with the report request.
- Receive and fulfill requests from the RIAG Cold Case Unit Team.
- Track all RIAG requests made to the RIDOH Forensic Laboratory.
- Conduct cold case file searches.
- Locate evidence at RIDOH or an off-site storage facility, following the proper procedures and policies.
- Attend a weekly Cold Case Meeting at the RIAG-BCI Office and other meetings as required.
- Other tasks as they relate to Cold Case Investigations.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience working in the Criminal Justice field or a related field.
- A college degree is required, preferably in forensic science, human sciences, data science, criminal justice, law, sociology, physiology, or related studies.
- Critical thinking skills are required.
- Working knowledge of laboratory procedures and policies is a plus, but not required; training will be provided.
- Working knowledge of forensics/criminal justice systems/law is preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills and time management skills are required.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft 365, including Outlook and Teams, and ability to learn new software as needed.
- The ability to attend meetings off-site during the day is required; therefore, reliable transformation.
- The ability to work nights and weekends as needed, with proper notice, is required.
