Key Responsibilities

Prepare for Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) conferences by researching case information, conducting fact-finding, and gathering relevant documentation.

Conduct and coordinate ESSA conference discussions with internal and external stakeholders.

Participate in making ESSA Best Interest Determinations based on fact-finding, conference discussions, and internal Education Team consultations.

Prepare and issue ESSA Best Interest Determinations within two business days of conference calls unless additional consultation is required.

Collaborate with social caseworkers, probation officers, DCYF administrators, advocates, and school personnel to clarify case facts.

Participate in weekly ESSA Determination Meetings and Education Team Meetings.

Maintain an accurate tracking system and monitor outcomes of ESSA determinations.

Conduct other education-related research as assigned.

Coordinate with the Education Team Administrative Assistant on scheduling calls and logistics.

Respond to inquiries from internal and external parties, or route them to appropriate staff.

Participate in mandatory trainings for state contract employees (e.g., cybersecurity training).
Required Skills

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Skilled in internet research and information gathering.

Ability to learn and use electronic case management systems effectively.

Strong written communication skills to prepare clear and concise determination reports.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge and experience with state and federal laws and regulations related to special education.

Familiarity with child welfare or other social service agencies preferred.

Proven success as a team or discussion leader.
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or another Human Services field.
-
Minimum 3 years of experience working in a public-school setting preferred.
