Full-Time Construction Accountant
Location: Irving, TX
Hands-on accounting role with job costing, AIA billing, and growth to Controller.
Our client is a fast-growing commercial contractor looking for an experienced accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day and project-based accounting. If you’ve worked in construction, understand the pace and complexity of job costing, and want to grow with a scaling company, this is a great fit.
What You’ll Do
- Manage accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries
- Handle job costing and cost tracking for commercial construction projects
- Collaborate with project managers on budgets, billing, and cost-to-complete
- Prepare and submit monthly financial statements, including support for banking and credit lines
- Assist with AIA billing, retainage tracking, and lien deadlines (with support)
- Manage basic accounting for CEO’s investment portfolio
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of accounting experience in commercial construction.
- Background in job costing environments such as subcontractors in trades like electrical, HVAC, plumbing, steel, and glazing, or general contractors and sitework firms.
- Experience with companies managing projects from $1M–$3M and annual revenue in the $9M–$15M range is a plus.
- Familiarity with construction billing workflows (AIA, draw schedules, WIP reporting) is a big plus.
- Strong grasp of QuickBooks Online and financial reporting.
- Comfortable working on-site and collaborating with project teams.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to juggle day-to-day accounting with project needs.
