Duties 
 

  • The Rhode Island Department of Human Services is looking for a creative, experienced Digital Communications Specialist to enhance the effectiveness of our internal and external communications by creating and publishing engaging content for our website, email newsletters, intranet, and social media profiles. 
  • As the Digital Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring our digital content is engaging and aligned with the DHS message and strategic goals. 
  • The Digital Communications Specialist will manage and analyze the effectiveness of our media campaigns and digital presence. They will create engaging content to publish on various media outlets, connect with customers, and respond to inquiries. They will use software tools and programs to design attractive content that engages the target audience. They will also assist with editing our website, blog posts, e-mail marketing efforts, and social media initiatives. They will maintain communications SharePoint sites and develop and related videos on YouTube. They will use analytics reports to inform our goals for web and social media traffic increases. They will also help manage our social media accounts, the development of internal web pages for informational purposes, and manage content updates. 
  • The ideal candidate for this role is an individual with robust written and verbal communication skills, writing skills and extensive knowledge of digital marketing, branding, public relations, and corporate communications. 
 
Responsibilities include:
  • Work with the communications team to create and curate content for our social media channels, website, and intranet 
  • Ensure all content aligns with our branding and marketing guidelines and that it promotes a strong positive image of the agency 
  • Monitor the success of online marketing and engagement campaigns and suggest the best optimization strategies 
  • Assist the communications team in developing and implementing internal and external communication strategies by organizing initiatives to improve employee, consumer, and media communication 
  • Write compelling and impactful blog articles and copy for our website and social media • Draft internal communication documents (memos, newsletters, reports, or announcements) 
  • Liaise with social media influencers, thought leaders, and ad agencies to develop effective social media campaigns that will promote our services to the community 
  • Support our communications team in creating consistent messaging
