(Food Service Management- Child Nutrition Program)
General Statement of Duties:
- This temporary position seeks an individual to assist the
- Nutrition Specialists in the RI Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Program, school districts, child care centers, adult care centers, community organizations, wellness coalitions and food service management companies to ensure compliance with Child
- Nutrition Program USDA regulations.
- Works under the Director of Statewide Efficiencies.
- Position works closely with the nutrition coordinator with latitude to exercise independent judgement. Work is subject to review on a periodic basis or upon completion for results achieved.
Generally none. May work as part of teams and in
collaboration with others with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgement to achieve results.
Scope of Work:
- Assist Nutrition Specialists in conducting administrative and program reviews of sponsors and Districts;
- Assist Nutrition Specialists in conducting nutritional analysis of menus and foods serviced through the USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
- Assist Nutrition Specialists in application process, training, coordination and monitoring of the USDA Child Nutrition Programs;
- Develop and provide training / technical assistance to the sponsors / sites participating in the USDA Child Nutrition Programs;
- Manage the dissemination of information to sponsors and Districts via the RIDE website.
- Assist with state and federal reporting.
- Assist Nutrition Specialists in coordinating the application process, training, administration, monitoring, and reporting of grant programs related to the USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
- Knowledge of child nutrition programs, principles and practices; Skilled in developing and conducting training.
- Skilled in communicating effectively; both verbally and in writing.
- Skilled in developing and supporting coalitions / community support; Expertise in Microsoft Office software.
- A baccalaureate degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, food service management or a closely related field from a recognized college or university.
- Three (3) years experience in nutrition / food services and/or any combination of knowledge, skills and experience that is substantially equivalent.
