A newly created role at a leading global wealth manager

The Financial Crime team is responsible for the design and maintenance of the financial crime risk management framework. Headed by the MLRO and the Head of Financial Crime Team Leader, Financial Crime Team Members have day-to-day responsibility for:

  • Responding to queries about the firm's financial crime policies, procedures and processes
  • Making assessments of financial crime risk for the purpose of internal approval
  • Liaising with senior management where necessary
  • Monitoring new developments in financial crime regulation, and designing and implementing the necessary updates to processes
  • Liaising with overseas booking centres
  • Monitoring the operation of key controls such as transaction monitoring
  • Supporting the MLRO in reports to key committees
  • Conducting thematic reviews of aspects of financial crime process including annual client reviews for high risk and PEP clients.


Client Management (internal & external)

  • Daily interaction with Relationship Managers, their assistants, the Client On boarding Team
  • Conveying the outcome of decisions in an authoritative and persuasive manner
  • Maintaining high standards of client service and efficient turnaround of queries
  • Supporting the front office in complying with the financial crime policies and procedures
  • Assisting booking centres in understanding UK requirements, and in turn supporting booking centres in complying with their own requirements
  • Advise the First Line of Defence of options for addressing complex issues in account opening
  • Referring matters appropriately to other teams within Second Line of Defence or First Line of Defence, as required
  • Instruct third party due diligence providers and assessing the output, advising Relationship Managers on appropriate response
  • Prepare documentation for senior management approval and decision committees
  • Log internal suspicious activity reports and support the MLRO in determining the appropriate resolution
  • Design training for varying groups within the Firm, in response to varying needs
  • Deliver the training where required
  • Assist in the gathering and analysis of regular Management Information, and prepare packs for delivery to senior committees

Business Management

  • Review account opening packs received from the Client On boarding Team, and assess the financial crime risks
  • Make recommendations for approval for account opening, escalating appropriately
  • Assist in testing the operation of transaction monitoring

Regulatory Responsibilities & Risk Management

  • Assistance with MLRO functions
  • Ensure that the FCA Conduct Rules are fully understood and that the highest professional and personal tandards in accordance with the FCA Conduct Rules are adhered to and followed

Professional and Technical

  • Relevant higher educational and professional background
  • Proven track record in serving clients
  • Experience of financial crime risk management in other similar firms
  • Second language an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent analytical skills
