A new opportunity has become available at a Financial Institution for a Project Accountant.

Duties to include:

  • Preparation of business cases, budgets, quarterly forecasts and resource planning aligned to the programme plan
  • Works closely within the project management and programme management teams to ensure that resource requirements are captured, validated and reviews/challenges headcount appropriately
  • Scenario modelling to assist with programme decision making
  • Preparing quarterly programme/project forecasts and acting as the main liaison point with budget centre managers, portfolio office and finance teams as necessary
  • Ensuring timely preparation of monthly financial status reports for the programme/project managers and boards that provide headline status, financial information, performance and forward look/risk assessment
  • Dealing with all budgeting and forecasting queries for the programme/project
  • Implementing financial control of the programme/project, identifying risks/opportunities and reporting any performance issues head of programme office
  • Monthly review of resource plans, and frequent/regular monitoring of requirement status and forecasts
  • Reviewing and challenging the programme/project headcount, direct and capital expenditure requirements ensuring value for money
  • Maintaining programme budget and resource information and monitoring actual and forecast spend against budget/plans
  • Tracking and monitoring financial risks and opportunities
  • Representing the programme/project at regular financial control meetings with budget centre managers and finance teams
  • Acting as the acknowledged financial expert for the programme/project, responding to both regular and ad-hoc requests for financial information
  • Ensures costs come into the programme appropriately timesheets and purchase orders established and administered appropriately
  • Ensures all costs are captured into the programme and into the appropriate expense category, submits accruals, and works with finance business partner to optimise the monthly and final close position
  • Works closely with programme management team to support schedule and cost performance measurement

The candidate will have:

  • Experience as a management accountant or programme/project accountant
  • Full CIMA qualification
  • Experience of budgeting/forecasting, financial control and reporting processes, preferably in relation to programmes and projects
  • Experience in establishing and operating the necessary processes and controls to ensure financial control of programmes and projects and ensure value for money
  • Proven ability to communicate at all appropriate levels within the programme, business area and within multiple functions
  • Proven ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships
  • Strong excel and project forecasting/management accounting system experience

This is a 12 month FTC.
