A leading investment bank requires an experienced Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Officer, to oversee health and safety for the bank as well as handling individual issues as they arise. This is a great opportunity to work in a fantastic organisation in a standalone role as part of the wider facilities team. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity starting asap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a high standard of Health & Safety within the working environment as is practicable.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company Policy Statement.
  • Carrying out H&S induction training for all new employees and contractors as appropriate.
  • Overseeing all accident/incident and near miss investigations and implementing corrective actions to reduce and mitigate overall accident/incident and near miss figures
  • Carrying out workstation assessments for every employee on a bi-annual basis.
  • Carrying out minimum yearly Risk Assessment Report for Fire Precaution Regulations.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of all assessments.
  • Organising training and supervising Fire Marshalls and First Aiders.
  • Assisting Landlord in organising six-monthly Fire Drills at BWH.
  • Organising and supervising the training of all staff in fire safety both theory and practical.
  • Organising and implementing Major Incident Evacuation/Invacuation procedures in conjunction with Landlord
  • Maintaining H&S records including Staff Register, Fire Marshalls, First Aiders and Safety officers.
  • Ensuring accurate publishing of all H&S details on company notice boards and Intranet.
  • Effective physical security of the premises, managing relevant outsourced service providers, systems and controls.
  • Planning, preparing and reviewing relevant security policies, procedures and controls.
  • Investigating and reporting on physical security events or breaches.
  • Ensuring that environmental policies are implemented and any environmental campaigns are effective.
  • Enhancing the recycling scheme in place
  • Monitoring and reporting environmental performance and implementing resources to reduce carbon footprint where possible
  • Organisation of environmental awareness campaigns
  • Assisting in other areas of the department as and when required.
  • Available 24/7 to respond to emergency situations.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a Health & Safety role within a large corporate office is essential
  • Relevant qualification such as NEBOSH is desirable
  • Ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Detail orientated with regards to legal and regulatory responsibilities
