My client is who is one of the top leading magic circle law firms based in the City is looking for an experienced HR/Recruitment Administrator, ideally from a another law firm, who is looking for a step up into this varied and challenging role. The successful candidate will be working within a recruitment team, who are responsible for attracting and recruiting graduates, ensuring, the continuing success of the firm.

The successful candidate will report in to the Senior Manager

Key responsibilities

  • Setting up interview tests, conducting short HR interviews and feeding back to the partners at the weekly meetings.
  • Managing the training contract offer process and relevant paperwork.
  • Organising and attending the weekly meeting with the interviewing partners to discuss the candidates, including providing statistical updates.
  • Acting as one of the main points of contact for candidates following an offer - answering queries, organising follow up office visits and paperwork.
  • Responsible for allocating trainee solicitors to appropriate intakes and managing deferral requests.
  • Organising the maintenance payments
  • Compiling the budget projections to cover future trainee law school tuition and maintenance grant costs.
  • Responsible for background screening of future trainees.
  • Liaising with the internal Global Mobility Team and our external immigration advisers to manage the visa process for future trainee solicitors.
  • Running reports from the online system and manipulating the raw data using pivot tables and other Excel functions.
  • Attending university law fairs across the UK in October and November - representing the firm and answering queries.
  • Organising and attending (where appropriate) trainee recruitment events (in London and across the UK) throughout the year.
  • Sole responsibility for the administrative and organisational tasks relating to 27 university law fairs.
  • Processing applications and other communications via the online recruitment system during the busy season.
  • Dealing with trainee recruitment queries by telephone and email.
  • Assisting the Advisers and Manager as required.

Skills and experience required

  • Degree-educated, or qualified by experience
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and other advanced function
  • Previous experience of preparing numerical reports and analysing data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written, spoken and presentational and upward communication skills
  • Confident and proactive - prepared to take a hands-on approach to managing their workload and using their initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team, but also be comfortable working on their own
  • A willingness to provide feedback, share information, contribute ideas and suggestions as necessary and take ownership of work
  • Able to build strong business relationships with internal and external contacts and the resilience to deal with demanding individuals
  • Experience of working in a diverse team, while fostering an inclusive team culture
  • High level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of ethics
