This time last year I was interviewing with a few agencies in the city, just like the candidates I assist with, I had the same reservations about who to join. Which one do I go with? Will this be the best decision? What if they don’t like me? These were just a few questions that ran through my mind.
I took the leap and joined LMA. I was really bought into LMA’s values, staff and progression. A year later I haven’t regretted it. Sure, like any job I have had my ups and downs but the supportive environment has kept me strong and motivated.
In any sales position, your efforts affect your outcomes. If you don’t put in the time, you can’t be surprised when you fall short of your goals. When I joined LMA time flew - I was making hundreds of calls a day but not getting any results.
Do I continue working for no reward? Or – Shall I call it a day?
I was in that position at the start of this year. I decided to continue, ‘one more month’ I was thinking to myself. That one decision to carry on helped my desk turn around rapidly. Clients I was targeting were actually calling me back, meeting me, offering my candidates and listening to my advice.
As I look back on the last 12 months, it is hard to pin down a single best moment. However, here’s my top 5:
1. Celebrating my birthday 4 months after joining LMA to find a Michael Kors Watch and a bottle of Patron greeting me on my arrival. Even when I tell people I still think WOW!
2. 6 months after joining LMA to be nominated for ‘Best BD award’ at the Christmas Ceremony.
3. Helping over 30 candidates to secure their dream jobs.
4. Seeing my LMA family grow, including my fantastic team growing from 4 to 8.
5. Winning ‘Consultant of the Month’ and being rewarded with an Apple Watch (I now wear a watch on each wrist thanks to LMA!)
As I sit at my desk writing this blog I feel I made the right decision joining LMA. I speak to numerous candidates/clients daily and I feel sometimes candidates want reassurance when joining a new company. My advice to anyone looking for a new role is that it might not be as easy as your last role but the feeling of overcoming those challenges are fantastic. As Richard Branson famously said – “If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!”
I never thought I would say this, but I genuinely love coming to work - and I mean it!
