Job Purpose

  • Set up and lead the provision of a complete HR generalist service to designated client base at our newest Customer Fulfilment Centre;
  • Translate business initiatives and goals into robust HR strategic plans to enable business delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Set up a team of on-site HR professionals, including operational training specialists who you will lead, coach and develop to successfully partner with operational line management;
  • Via effective guidance and coaching, empower line managers to make effective people decisions and to understand and effectively implement HR policies, procedures and best practices; You will also develop and deliver internal training workshops for line managers and employees;
  • Develop practical people strategies in partnership with the line which address immediate and long-term key business objectives, e.g. effective recruitment and onboarding
  • Identify and drive HR-related business projects which will benefit the business and contribute to its success;
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings both with key customers and within HR; lead and participate in project and working groups on initiatives across both HR and the Operation; facilitate and contribute to on-site people panels;
  • Interpret and advise on relevant current employment legislation and advise on risk and mitigation regarding employment law;
  • In conjunction with the Health and Safety stream and Line Management, ensure that there are safe working systems, procedures and policies in place and apply them to your team accordingly.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience of leading HR within an operational environment, preferably Unionised;
  • Strong leadership, relationship management and people management skills;
  • Ability to interpret numerical data in consideration of business priorities;
  • Confident decision maker who is able to work independently ;
  • Good organisation and delegation skills
  • Effective networking, mediation and negotiation skills; able to listen to and persuade others based on sound logic;
  • PC Literate - at least intermediate level MS Office and knowledge of HR databases and systems;
  • Flexible approach to working hours to support 24/7 business operation and to be able to travel as required.
  • CIPD qualified (or relevant equivalent professional / vocational qualifications).
