Just Arrived in the UK?
If you have recently arrived in the UK from overseas and are looking for work then LMA can assist you to find the perfect role and help you settle in.
Employment legislation in the UK now means there are a number of documents you will need to have prior to your interview with a consultant at LMA.
The following will all be required to ensure that the registration process runs as smoothly as possible:
- An valid passport for proof of identity
- A legitimate visa or work permit. This is to comply with current UK legistation
- 5 years worth of references from previous roles you have held. If you don’t have these then contact details will be required as a minimum so we can apply for the references on your behalf.
- If you have been in education within the last 5 years then we will need proof of this.
Before you begin your assignment you will need a valid UK bank account. Once you have a home address, you will be able to shop around for an account that suits you. The main banks in the UK are:
- Lloyds TSB
- Nat West
- HSBC
- Barclays
To open an account you will need the following:
- Proof of address – a utility bill or tenancy agreement will suffice
- Your passport

Some of the larger international banks offer the facility to open a UK bank account from your home country. This is usually a good idea, as opening a bank account when you first arrive in th UK, without a permanent address or established credt history, can take some time.
